A 27-year-old woman was sentenced to four days in jail for repeatedly hitting her boyfriend with a metal pipe over a Facebook message sent by his ex-girlfriend.
Superior Court Presiding Judge Robert Naraja sentenced Amber Francine Castro Garrido to one year of imprisonment, all suspended except for four days after she pled guilty to assault and battery.
At the sentencing hearing on Tuesday morning, Garrido appeared out of custody and was represented by Chief Public Defender Douglas Hartig. Assistant Attorney General Teri Tenorio appeared for the government.
Garrido will start serving her jail sentence on May 27, 2018 and will be released on May 30, 2018.
After she pled guilty to assault and battery, the Office of the AG moved to dismiss the remaining charges against Garrido.
According to the plea agreement Garrido “shall be placed on supervised probation for two years one week following her release from the Department of Corrections.”
She will also pay court fees and complete 50 hours of community work service.
In addition, Garrido will enroll in and complete counseling with the Community Guidance Center or with other appropriate behavioral professionals — including treatment for anger management and domestic-violence issues. She must follow all instructions and recommendations of the counselors and clinicians.
