Scheduled power interruption on Aug. 4

(CUC) — The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. would like to inform the general public that there will be a scheduled power interruption on Friday, Aug. 4, from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m.

The purpose of the power interruption is to de-energize the primary lines to allow CUC line crew to safely replace three 100 KVA transformers with three 37.5 KVA pole mounted transformers. This is part of an on-going USDA HEC grant program to improve the efficiency of the power distribution system throughout Saipan.

Water services will be interrupted during the duration of the power interruption; however, all services should be restored after the power is re-energized.

Areas to be affected: China Town (Commonwealth Drive, Nimitz Ln., Linao Ln., Legislature Ln., World War Two Ln., Uruwow Ln., Congress Ln., Secretary Ln., and Komiti Av.), Japon Dr., Okinawa Ln., Bokungo Ln., Carter Pl., Alemana Pl., Spoehr Pl., Raghisch St., Ghiyobw St., Piga Palaya Pl., and Gualo Rai (Gualo Rai Rd . Matua Ln., Rai Dr., Robat Drive, Isley Pl., Earhart Drive, United Nations Ln., MacArthur Dr., Treaty Ln., Constitution Pl., Historia Pl., Towers Ln., Veteran Dr., and Liberation Ln.)

Water wells to be affected: GR- 15 1, GR-154, GR-4, and GR-5

Traffic light affected: Gualo Rai

Because of the scale of work that will be performed, CUC asks travelers to take alternate routes or to exercise caution when driving through the affected areas. CUC appreciates the understanding of the community during this period.
