THE Northern Marianas Athletics and Powerade have forged partnership in hosting this year’s Micronesia Area Championship that will be held at the Oleai Sports Complext from June 14 to 16.

NMA President Ramon A. Tebuteb and Powerade’s Tina Palacios announced the partnership during the second day of the McDonald’s-Public School System Athletics Championships last week.

Tebuteb said NMA and the Powerade have been partnering in hosting regional athletics event for a long time.

That is why he, on behalf of the islands’ athletics family once again would like to express huge thank you to the company for continuous support.

“Right now we continue to solidify our partnership. NMA as a non-profit organization depends on sponsors. We are all volunteers and the generosity we receive from different sponsors like this one, makes all this successful,” Tebuteb said.

Powerade will exclusively provide thirst quenchers and other beverages during the regional sports event for the athletes, coaches, volunteers and all those involved.

About 200 athletes and guests are expected to flock to Saipan for the 2018 Micronesian Area Championships that will feature athletics events in the 18-and-under and open categories.

Aside from the CNMI, the other participating island nations in the region are Guam, Palau, Federated States of Micronesia, Marshall Islands, Kiribati and Nauru.

For her part, Palacios said that the Coca Cola always supported the event.

They have been doing this for a long and they are excited to do it again this year. She is in particular, so excited, she said because “this is my first time to handle this one for the company.”

“We want to support, and not just sell our products, we want to give our product to the athletes to the kids and be part of this event,” she added.
