THE Torres administration should send a delegation to Japan to discuss tourism issues, Rep. Leepan Guerrero said.
“I am asking our government to please form a delegation that will go to Japan and meet with Japanese government officials and ask what the CNMI can do to attract more Japanese tourists,” he added.
Japan used to be the islands’ primary tourism market.
The chairman of the House Committee on Commerce and Tourism said he will discuss his proposal with Japan Consul Kinji Shinoda.
“We should have a serious talk with the Japanese on what we can do to improve the CNMI as a destination,” Guerrero added.
Arrivals from Japan have continued to decline since 2005 when Japan Air Lines pulled out from Saipan.
