A decision to support the use of the Pacific Region ARFF Training Center in Spain by sister islands in Micronesia was signed according to Commonwealth Ports Authority executive director MaryAnn Lizama. The leaders of Republic of Palau, Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of Marshall Islands, Guam and the CNMI all agreed to support the PRATC resolution. The primary goal of this plan is to establish a partnership with the islands.
According to the resolution members at the summit, including Palau President Tommy Remengesau, FSM President Peter Christian, RMI President Dr. Hilda Heine, together with governors and lieutenant governors of CNMI, Guam, Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei, and Kosrae support the encourage participation in the firefighter training programme as described in the agreement
Copies of the resolution and MOA will be passed down to the fire departments and other agencies mentioned in the resolution.
Moreover Lizama revealed about the future plans of CPA, to expand the resolution not only for firefighters but also for airport police, tenant employees and ground handlers.
At the moment, PRAT conduct courses on Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting, Basic Firefighting and Rescue, Hazardous Material and Weapons of Mass Destruction.
