Ike Perez no longer CUC chairman

IGNACIO “Ike” Perez served as chairman of the new Commonwealth Utilities Corp.’s board for just a month.

As chairman of the Commonwealth Development Authority board, he served on the CUC board representing CDA as the major stockholder of the utilities corporation.

He was elected CUC’s board chairman during the new board’s first meeting on Dec. 5, 2017. Later in the same month, his term as a CDA board member expired.

CUC chief legal counsel James Sirok said Perez’s membership on the CUC board is dependent on Perez’s membership on the CDA board.

CUC board vice chairman Weston Thomas Deleon Guerrero will be acting chairman until the CUC board elects a new chairman, Sirok said.

“There should always be a representative from CDA. The [CUC] board will have a new election,” he added.

On Jan. 5, 2018, the CUC board held a meeting with Deleon Guerrero presiding.
