House confirms appointment of Benjamin Borja to utilities commission

THE House of Representatives on Tuesday confirmed the appointment of Benjamin Borja to the Commonwealth Public Utilities Commission.

Borja’s appointment must be confirmed by both legislative houses.

Last week, the Senate confirmed  his nomination.

The governor also appointed James Benavente to CPUC but he declined the nomination because he is still preparing for his certification as a civil engineer.

On Tuesday, House Floor Leader Glenn Maratita made a motion to file or shelve Benavente’s appointment after learning that he would be declining the nomination.

The motion was carried.
