Hotels affected by CW cap will hire and not just ‘borrow’ workers from other hotels

HOTELS losing their employees due to the CW-1 cap will try to hire employees from other hotels, according to Gloria Cavanagh, president of the Hotel Association of Northern Mariana Islands.

She wished to clarify that a hotel whose CW petitions were not renewed would not just “borrow” workers, but hire them to prevent staff shortages.

Affected hotels will try to hire U.S. workers of other hotels, she added.

Cavanagh is a member of the Northern Business Alliance Corporation which is seeking U.S. congressional relief to address the islands’ workforce shortage.

Recently, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services’ announced that the CW cap for fiscal year 2018 will be cut by 3,000.
