THE man charged in a robbery incident in Chalan Kanoa last November was sentenced to two years of imprisonment, all suspended except for one year.
Superior Court Judge Kenneth L. Govendo also gave Hilario Teigita Angui, 34, credit for 141 days of time served.
Angui, a habitual offender, will be released from the Department of Corrections on Nov. 28, 2018 at 8 a.m.
The robbery was reported to the police on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017, at 12:23 p.m.
The victim said Angui pulled two rings, valued at over $240, from the victim’s hand.
Angui was arrested at his residence on the same day. He was charged with robbery, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
On April 17, 2018, Angui pled guilty to robbery. Pursuant to the plea agreement, the court granted the government’s request to dismiss all remaining counts.
Upon release from jail, Angui will be immediately placed on supervised probation for three years. He will report to and register with the Office of Adult probation
In addition, he is to pay $100 in court costs, $420 in probation fees and $200 in restitution. He is to have no direct or indirect contact with the victim. Moreover, he must pay a fine of $100 and complete 100 hours of community service.
