The Guam Track and Field Association (GTFA) is hosting an open track and field meet from 8 a.m. to noon on Jan. 28 at the Guam High School track in Agana Heights.
Events range from 100m to 5000m and include hurdles, field events and a medley relay. A 60m dash has been set up for athletes aged 10 and below. A full event listing can be found on GTFA’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/GuamTrackFieldAssociation.
“This open meet is the first of a series of qualifiers for international competitions this summer,” said GTFA President Derek Mandell. “We are looking to send strong contingencies to the Micronesia Area Championships in June as well as the Micronesian Games in July.”
“These meets will allow athletes the opportunity to post qualifying marks,” he added.
Participation is open to the public and free for GTFA members. A nominal $5 fee applies for nonmembers. Early-bird registration ends today. Race-day registration is $10. Participants must present valid photo identification at the gate. Interested parties are encouraged to send questions to [email protected].
