A 21-year-old man was charged with vehicle thefts after he was reportedly seen with a vehicle involved in suspected crimes, according to court documents. 

A white Honda Civic registered to Gino Nobuo Uchellas was allegedly caught on surveillance cameras in connection with four vehicle thefts. Uchellas admitted his involvement in the crimes, documents state.

Uchellas was charged Tuesday with four counts of theft of an automobile via complicity as a second-degree felony, with notice of felony on felony release.

On April 25, two car owners told police their cars were stolen from the parking lot of the Hilton Guam Resort & Spa, where they parked to go to work, according to court documents.

Surveillance footage showed a white Honda Civic drop off two males, who each took a green Honda Civic, according to charging documents.

On the same day, a man told police his 1997 white Acura Integra was stolen from the Micronesia Mall parking lot, documents state. Surveillance footage showed a white Honda Civic bearing the same license plate from the Hilton car thefts, court documents state. A woman who reported her car stolen from the Micronesia Mall area on the same day told police that surveillance footage showed involvement of the same white Honda Civic.

Skeleton key

According to court documents, Uchellas admitted he was the driver for the two males when they stole the vehicles using a skeleton key. He is the registered owner of the white Honda Civic involved in all four vehicle thefts, documents state.

Uchellas was on pretrial release in a separate drug case, released with conditions in a April 19 case, court documents state. Drugs were found from Uchellas’ white Civic when police pulled him over for traffic violations, court documents state.

On April 18, police observed the white Honda Civic take a left turn without slowing down and then make another left turn, also without slowing down, documents state. 

Police saw bubble wrap sticking out below the driver’s-side air-conditioning vent, documents state. Uchellas allegedly said it was trash, removed it and threw it on the floor by his feet, documents state.

An improvised glass pipe containing a crystal-like substance was reportedly found inside the bubble wrap and a field test resulted in a presumptive positive for methamphetamine.
