Fire department to discuss fire-lane regulations with business owners

THE Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services will hold discussions with stakeholders regarding the implementation of the fire-lane regulations in Garapan, according to DFEMS public information officer Derek Gersonde.

He said the meeting is set for Feb. 5 at Fiesta Resort & Spa.

DFEMS Commissioner Clyde K Norita in a previous statement said his department will conduct a public education campaign for businesses in the affected areas.

He said DFEMS will discuss the locations of the fire lanes, the proper procedure if vehicles are towed, and how to recover them.

As part of their educational campaign, he said the fire department will issue “warning citations” to operators of vehicles parked on a fire lane.

He added his department’s main concern is emergency access and egress for fire-fighting equipment, especially fire trucks, in the Garapan tourism district.
