Driver loses control of SUV

A TOYOTA sports utility vehicle  overturned in Gualo Rai on Sunday after the driver lost control of the SUV, according to the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services.

Linus Mizutani, DFEMS acting public information officer, said they received a call from the Department of Public Safety at 5:30 p.m. about a single car crash. Medic 2, Rescue1, and Forestry 1 arrived at the scene at 5:38 p.m., Mizutani added.

At the scene, the responding DFEMS personnel observed a Toyota SUV resting on its passenger side and the driver still stuck in the vehicle.  The SUV was stabilized, and the driver was helped out from the rear right passenger door, Mizutani said.

The driver reported that while traveling down Earhart Drive in Gualo Rai, she lost control of the vehicle and it  overturned, coming to rest on its right side, Mizutani added.

The driver was not seriously injured in the crash and refused transportation to the Commonwealth Health Center, Mizutani said, adding that  she was treated and released on scene by Medic-2 personnel.

Police are conducting an investigation on the cause of the crash, Mizutani said.
