THE Department of Public Safety on Sunday evening responded to reports about an “active shooter” in Papago and Kagman.
DPS public information officer Jackie Rae said the first incident was reported by a police officer on patrol in Papago. At approximately 4:30 p.m., Sunday, the officer heard gunshots in the area and alerted DPS. But after an extensive patrol of the area, no suspects were found and no additional shots were heard, and the area was given the all-clear.
The second incident occurred in Kagman, Rae said. At approximately 6 p.m., Sunday, DPS received a call reporting shots fired in the area. Officers responded to the scene and once again conducted an extensive search. No armed suspects were found, no additional shots were heard, and Kagman was given the all-clear, Rae said.
“As a reminder,” she added, “if you hear what you believe to be gunshots, please do not investigate on your own. Instead, call 911, and we will investigate immediately.”
Precinct 1 Rep. Ed Propst in a Facebook post stated that residents on Betbena Drive in Papago told him they heard about six gunshots on Sunday at 4:50 p.m.” alt=”” width=”1″ height=”1″ />
