Gordon was the doctor on call on New Year’s Eve. He said he got a call in the early morning on Jan. 1 about a mother who was ready to give birth at the hospital.

“The baby is doing fine. He was breastfed by his mom right after the delivery. The mother is fine too,” Gordon said, adding that it was a normal delivery.

He said Dakota was the only baby delivered on Jan. 1 at CHC. A pediatrician will soon check on the baby to assess his condition, he added.

In an interview with the mother, Rangamar, 18, said the birth of her second child was easier than that of her first.

She said this time, she was in labor for just four hours. “It was a quick delivery.”

Her first child, also a boy, is almost a year old now.

According to Rangamar, she plans to finish high school. “I’ll take care of the kids then go back to school when they get a little bigger,” she said.

When asked about the name of her second baby, she said: “We thought it was a nice name.”
