For violating the court issued temporary restraining order against them, two women were summoned in Superior Court to answer the charges.
Joanne Marie Dlg. Castro, 40, and her daughter, Shaina Nonille Castro, 19, appeared in the courtroom of Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho on Monday to answer to charges of contempt of court.
According to court information, the mother and daughter on September 18, 2017 violated and refused to comply with a lawful order to wit: failing to obey a temporary restraining order issued by the court, specifically ordering the defendants to have no contact and to stay 200 feet away from Councilman LJ Castro.
Shaina Castro appeared in the custody of the Department of Corrections with her court appointed defense counsel Kelly Butcher, and, after waiving the reading of the charges, she plead not guilty.
Shaina Castro was charged with possession of “ice” while detained in jail last Feb. 3.
Her mother, Joanne Castro, appeared in court out of custody, and assistant public defender Nancy Dominski was appointed to represent her.
The 40 year old mother through her defense counsel also pled not guilty to the charges brought against them.
Judge Camacho ordered all parties to appear on April 6, 2018 at 1:30 pm in the courtroom of Associate Judge Wesley M. Bognan.
