Bill to restrict campaign activities on public land

SENATOR Sixto Igisomar has introduced a measure to restrict campaign activities after 8 p.m. on public lands unless held in a hotel.

Senate Bill 20-84 states that there is a need to impose a time restriction on political campaign activities in consideration of the surrounding residential areas affected by “the loud noise caused by such activities.”

According to the bill, “although political campaign activities are an integral part of the election process in our democratic society, some political campaign activities have been disruptive to surrounding residential areas. Moreover, political campaign activities may cause a nuisance to surrounding residential areas when loud music is played or when loud announcements are made especially late at night.”
