Bengali New Year celebration this Saturday at Minatchom Atdao

THE Bangladeshi community on Saipan will celebrate its Shuvo Nobo-Borsho or the Bengali New Year 1425 this Saturday at Minatchom Atdao in Susupe.

Bangladesh Cultural Group president and event organizer Rakibul “Mintu” Islam said they are also expecting participants from the Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan and Nepali communities on island.

“We have lots of surprises,” he said, adding that the Maharlikan Center, a Filipino group, will  provide entertainment.

As in the past years, the program will feature cultural dance numbers, poetry reading and singing, Islam said.

Bangladesh Cultural Group secretary Habib Ullah Badol said  food and drinks will also be available.

There will be games for the children from 9 a.m. to 12 noon while the family gathering and food festival will be held from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The cultural presentations will start at 6 p.m. and end at 11 p.m.

“We would like to invite everyone on island to join our New Year celebration and enjoy the fun and entertainment at the Michatchom Atdao this Saturday,” Badol said.
