Administration looks into inmates’ complaints

THE administration will address the complaints raised by inmates regarding prison conditions, Press Secretary Kevin Bautista said.

Recently, some inmates have filed complaints in federal court, alleging inhumane conditions and inadequate medical care at the Department of Corrections.

District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona has ruled that these claims are possible violation of the inmates’ constitutional rights.

Bautista said the Department of Corrections looks forward to working with the inmates to discuss their concerns in a fair and expedited manner.

“In the meantime, we can’t comment further on ongoing court proceedings without first ascertaining facts and understanding allegations,” Bautista added.

Two of the complaining inmates, Jesse Babauta Camacho  and Xu Guang Li told the federal court that a fellow inmate, Jose Santos, was ill and unable to take a bath or care for himself and had to use diapers.

Variety learned that on Thursday, Santos passed away.
