Flight Network’s World’s Best Beaches for 2018 provides this year’s annual selections based on the opinions and experiences of the world’s travel experts. This list showcases a diverse collection: the most extensive catalog of international beaches ever made.
The 2018 list was created after conferring with 1000+ travel journalists, agencies, bloggers, and editors to rank the best beaches in the world, based on their personal and professional experiences, and insight (and I, who grew up on South Beach — was happily among them).
The World’s Best Beaches for 2018 highlights the best beaches on almost all continents. The collection includes 411 beaches: red sand ones in Crete; dazzlingly clear waters in Micronesia; Jurassic-like shorelines in Bali, and a lush, aquatic world in Rio de Janeiro. Dive into the ultimate coastlines in Africa, Asia, Australia and the South Pacific, Central America and the Caribbean, Europe, North America, and South America.
After the voting process ended, Flight Network’s in-house travel experts analyzed and categorized the results, and created the official lists of Top 50 beaches around the world: the best in Africa, North America, South America, Central America and Caribbean, Australia and South Pacific, Asia, Top 50 City Beaches and the Top 50 Unexplored beaches. The beaches are ranked based on the number of votes they received from participating travel professionals.
The Top 50 beaches, the highest rated of all, are in Greece, Turks and Caicos Islands, Thailand, Chile, Micronesia, the Bahamas, and around the world. They includes the exposed cove of Greece’s Shipwreck Beach, the heart of the Great Barrier Reef at Whitehaven Beach, the karst cliffs and see-through waters of the Philippines’ El Nido beach, and the green beach of Hawaii.
The entire and extensive list of beaches provides gorgeous escape viewing, even from an armchair: from black volcanic coastline to powder white sands; from swaying palms to desert scrub; from turquoise waters on shallow inlets to deep blue ocean edged with snow-capped mountain peaks. Some show off vibrant cultures, and some offer relaxing solitude. Some offer rainbow-hued fish to view offshore, others sharks and sting rays to play among.
But best of all, these stunning destinations inspire you to travel somewhere along the coasts of the world to experience the beauty of our planet.
