THE Philippine Honorary Consulate Office on Saipan in partnership with the Philippine Consulate General Office on Guam distributed relief assistance to 207 Filipino nationals on Tinian, Wednesday.
The distribution was held at the Tinian Health Center in San Jose at 11 a.m.
“Right now, the Philippine Honorary Consulate Office in partnership with our Guam Consulate General is focused toward providing relief assistance through our ongoing outreach, and serving as many of our fellow Filipino brothers and sisters on Tinian as we did on Saipan,” Honorary Philippine Consul Glicerio Arago said who was accompanied on Tinian by Vice Consul to Guam Alex O. Vallespin and Annamae Adaza, community outreach coordinator of the Office of Governor
The relief assistance was provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
The consulate has yet to determine the total number of Filipino typhoon victims who have lost their homes.
“But what we know is that many of them have been affected one way or another as a result of the catastrophic impact of Typhoon Yutu,” Arago said.
There are about 700 Filipino nationals on Tinian.
“We join them in solidarity as they begin the process of rebuilding and recovery,” Arago said.
The Filipino Association in Tinian led by its president Rodney S. Cabarles assisted in the distribution of the relief assistance on Wednesday, the group’s press relations officer Susan Perez said.
Perez said they were “very thankful” to the consulate general’s office, Arago and Adaza for helping the Filipinos on Tinian.
“Typhoon Yutu destroyed many houses and personal properties but Saipan and Tinian remain strong,” she added.
