Philippine consulate on Guam to oversee repatriation of Del Prado’s remains

PHILIPPINE Honorary Consul to the CNMI Glicerio “Eli Arago said he has already submitted a report regarding the death of Aurelio Del Prado to the Philippine Consulate General’s Office on Guam.

Del Prado, 74, died on Friday night after he was hit by a car on a road near Joeten Dandan.

A Filipino national, Del Prado was a former construction worker.

Arago said the consulate general’s office will oversee the repatriation of Del Prado’s remains.

“But we have to wait first for the official investigation report from the CNMI government before the remains could be sent back home, Arago said.

He said he was also informed that Del Prado’s wife and daughter will be flying to Saipan.

“We are expecting the family members to arrive today [Tuesday], he added.

Some community members want to know how they can provide financial assistance to Del Prado’s family.

His family members cannot avail themselves of the benefits from the Philippine Overseas Workers Welfare Administration because Del Prado  was no longer an OWWA member.

Arago said his office cannot solicit donations since many island residents are still recovering from Typhoon Yutu.

But he said those who want to make a donation to Del Prado’s family may call his office at 233-6293 and ask for Mel Santos.
