FIFTEEN field personnel of the Division of Parks and Recreation lost their homes to Typhoon Yutu, but they are out in the field every day to clean up pavilions and beach parks, senior ranger and field supervisor Omar Hossain said.
“They and their families have been devastated but they continue to contribute to the recovery (efforts),” he said, as he lauded the personnel for their commitment and dedication.
He said the field workers show up for work “with a positive attitude.”
Parks and Recreation’s office itself was damaged by the typhoon, “but that will not stop us from doing our part for the community,” he added.
Hossain expressed his gratitude to Parks and Recreation Director Victor Deleon Guerrero, head supervisor Raymond Sablan and site supervisor Ben Cepeda for all their contributions and encouragement to the field personnel and other staff members.
Immediately after the typhoon hit the island, Parks and Recreation joined the Saipan mayor’s office and other government agencies in the debris removal operation on Beach Road.
Since last week, Parks and Recreation personnel have already removed debris from pavilions and beach parks from San Antonio to Garapan.
