THE Korean Community of Saipan is raising funds for typhoon victims by selling new clothes at affordable prices at the Korean Community Center in San Antonio from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“These are all new clothes sent to us from friends in Korea,” the group’s secretary, Simon Sin, said.
For sale are women’s and men’s clothes, tops, shirts, jackets and t-shirts with prices ranging from $2 to $4.
Vilma Molina, one of the first customers, said: “Most of our clothes were damaged by the typhoon.”
The Korean Women’s Association of Saipan headed by Jae Kyung Song is also helping with the fund drive, Sin said.
Korean Community of Saipan president Jae Yeol Lim expressed his appreciation to the local community for supporting the fund drive.
Early this month, the Korean group distributed free meals to community members.
Group finance director Yonggon Kim said the free meal distribution was conducted for seven days at different locations: Mount Carmel Cathedral, Hopwood Middle School, Judy’s Restaurant in As Lito and the Korean Community Center in San Antonio.
