A Shell gas station attendant said when the morning shift employees came in Saturday, they found the mini-store’s glass door shattered.

Stolen were cellphones and prepaid cards, but the safe was left untouched, the attendant said.

At Gold Ribbon, which was damaged by Typhoon Yutu, its accountant said burglars took $4,500 in cash. She said the perpetrators broke the front door and made their way to the office where they stole the money that was supposed to be used to reopen the restaurant. “That money is for change funds, payments for delivery, and other expenses for the opening,” the accountant said.

She said the burglars also opened the cash register, but it was empty. Nothing else was taken from the restaurant, she added.

She said they were able to rebuild the restaurant quickly because the owners and all the staff pitched in.
