DCCA distributes number assignments at Minachom Atdao

THE Nutrition Assistance Program processed over 2,000 applications for Disaster Food and Supplemental Assistance on Sunday, Department of Culture and Community Affairs Secretary Robert Hunter said.

“Our staff stayed there [at the NAP office in As Lito] until 11 p.m. We don’t want to do that anymore. They need to go home and rest,” he said.

Starting Monday, Hunter said the NAP office will stick to 1,700 applications per day. He said thousands of people went to the NAP office on Sunday. Many had camped out since Saturday evening. “We tried to put out the word that people don’t have to camp out, and that everybody will be served.”

To ease the congestion at the NAP office, DCCA decided to distribute number assignments at the Minachom Atdao pavilion on Beach Road starting Monday. “People will have to pick their numbers here, so only people for the designated day are going up to NAP and apply.”

At about noon on Monday, DCCA distributed number assignments to those who will apply on Thursday. “We will keep distributing until we run out of numbers,” Hunter said.

He added that the traffic situation at the NAP office improved on Monday compared to the previous day. People line up to get their number assignments for the Disaster Food Assistance program. On Sunday, Hunter said many people parked their vehicles all the way to Saipan International School and nearby places.

“From the Shell gas station, it took 45 minutes to get to the NAP office yesterday,” he said. “We don’t want to inconvenience the students and the teachers at the school.”

For the number assignments, Hunter advised the people to refer to the flyer posted on Facebook. The assigned application dates:
