Casino commissioners will not submit courtesy resignations

GOVERNOR Ralph  DLG Torres has instructed his cabinet members and other appointed officials to submit their courtesy resignations, but the casino commissioners said they are not required to do so.

At the commission’s board meeting on Thursday, Chairman Juan Sablan said based on the review of their legal counsel, Mike Ernest, the commissioners, by law, are not required to submit courtesy resignations — but they can if they want to.

The commissioner from Tinian, former Mayor Ramon Dela Cruz, said the governor’s request is primarily directed at his cabinet members.

The other commissioners are Joseph Reyes, who is the vice chair, former Rota Sen. Diego Songao and former Rep. Alvaro Santos who, together with executive director Edward Deleon Guerrero, was not around during the meeting Thursday.
